Berchtesgaden (pps) The 2004-2005 Viessmann Luge World Cup will start at Altenberg, Germany, on November 12-14 and will end after nine events with the pre-Olympic test in Turin, Italy, on February 4-6, 2005. The World Championships in Park City, Utah/ USA, on February 18-20, 2005 will be the highlight of the season. The Executive Board of the International Luge Federation, FIL, approved the proposal of the Sports Commission at their meeting at Berchtesgaden, Germany, last weekend.
FIL is expecting great public and media interest in the two “classic” events at the start of the new year at Oberhof (December 31, 2004 to January 1, 2005) and Koenigssee (January 5-6). In the pre-Olympic season, the Viessmann Luge World Cup will also be staged at Sigulda, Latvia, Calgary, Canada, Lake Placid, USA, Igls, Austria, and Winterberg, Germany.
Title holders in the Viessmann Luge World Cup are Sylke Otto, Germany, Armin Zoeggeler, Italy and in the doubles Patric Leitner-Alexander Resch, Germany.
