Sigulda (pps). Wilfried Huber (ITA), Maija Tiruma (LAT) and Michail Kuzmich/Jurij Veselov (RUS) are the winners of the Nations Cup at VIESSMANN Luge World Cup in Sigulda (Latvia).
The Men’s Nations Cup won Wilfried Huber from Italy, Olympic Champion at doubles 1994, in 49,610 seconds followed by local hero Guntis Rekis (LAT, 49,618 seconds) and Russia’s Kirill Serikov (49,859). Best Canadian athlete was Sam Edney as fourth (49,899 seconds).
Local Hero Maija Tiruma won the Women’s Nations Cup in 43,726 seconds followed by the fourth of World Championships Natalie Geisenberger from Germany (43,737 seconds) and Olympic-Sixth Liliya Ludan (UKR, 43,759). Best Canadian athlete was Meghan Simister on rank eight, Erin hamlin as tenth was best of the US-team.
The doubles-race at Nations Cup in Sigulda won Russia’s Michail Kuzmich/Jurij Veselov in 43,501 seconds followed by the Ninth of World Championships, Tobias Wendl/Tobias Arlt (GER, 43,606 seconds) and the bronzemedallists of European Championships 2006 Andris Sics/Juris Sics (43,721) from Latvia.
