Winterberg (pps) Due to injury, European Champion Tatiana Ivananova will not be able to compete in the women’s singles at the upcoming Viessmann Luge World Cup event in Winterberg (race on Sunday, January 22, 2012 / start at 09:45 hrs). The Olympic fourth-placed suffered a broken ring finger (right hand) last weekend in Oberhof, when she awkwardly touched the boards in the run-off. On sixth place after the first run, the 21-year-old then crashed in the second run and did not finish the run.
The Russian team hopes that Ivanova, currently on sixth place in the overall Viessmann Luge World Cup rankings, will be returning to competition at the next stop in St. Moritz (January 28-29, 2012).
