Extension of the contract by another four years to 2018
Berchtesgaden (pps) It is the probably longest and most successful partnership in winter sports that will be continued: Heating manufacturer Viessmann will pursue its commitment as main sponsor of the International Luge Federation, FIL, until 2018.
Viessmann – for a total of now 17 years most important FIL sponsoring partner – will thus remain main and title sponsors of the World Cup series until the end of the 2017-2018 season with the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea, as the highlight. As in the past years, the contract extension was again negotiated by RGS Sportmarketing GmbH in Berchtesgaden, Germany. Thanks to RGS, Viessmann also continues its partnership with Germany’s Bobsleigh and Sled Sports Federation, BSD, for another four years.
In the past years, TV broadcasts of the Viessmann Luge World Cup series regularly achieved market shares of more than 20 percent, and the coverage in the print media is above average.
Viessmann started its commitment as winter sports sponsor in 1993, aiming at increasing the awareness level for the Viessmann brand, to further improve their positive image as well as to strengthen the identification of their marketing partners with the manufacturer.
This concept proved successful. Within a short time only, the brand awareness increased from less than 50 to more than 80 percent. Additionally, the intended image transfer worked out as well. Especially thanks to the help of the athletes, who are individually supported by Viessmann and who were and still are friendly and successful in equal measure. At present, these criteria in luge are met by the current Olympic Champions Tatjana Huefner and Felix Loch in the singles as well World Champions Tobias Wendl-Tobias Arlt in the doubles.
