Walter Außendorfer is dead

Tiers (RWH) Italy’s luge family mourns the death of Walter Außendorfer. The bronze medallist of the 1964 Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck in doubles together with his team-mate Siegfried Mair died in his hometown Tiers at the age of 80 years of a heart attack, as only now became known. In the singles competition, Außendorfer came in 16th place at the Olympic premiere of luge.
After the end of his active career Außendorfer ran the Hotel Krone in his hometown where he also worked as a municipal councillor.
