We Slide Forward 2034: The FIL Presents Its Strategy
The International Luge Federation has presented its strategy for the coming two Olympic cycles at the 74th FIL Congress in Berchtesgaden. "We Slide Forward 2034" defines the FIL's mission, vision and values, and sets clear priorities for the development of luge through to the 2034 Olympic Winter Games in Utah.
The strategy is built on six pillars: expanding and modernising artificial track luge; developing and scaling alpine luge; strengthening national federations; placing athletes at the centre of all decisions; enhancing media visibility and commercial growth; and strengthening FIL governance and financial sustainability.
Developed through a structured process initiated in autumn 2025 – with the active involvement of athletes, coaches, national federations and FIL officials – the document reflects the luge community's shared vision for the future of the sport. The progress will be reviewed annually at the FIL Congress against defined key indicators.
