Whistler (pps) Setting even two track records Germany’s Natalie Geisenberger won the finale at the Viessmann Luge World Cup at “Whistler Sliding Center, but her team-mate Tatjana Hüfner, wh0 finished on second place at Whistler, took away for the second time the title of the Overall Champion in the pre-Olympic season.
On the up-coming Olympic track for the Winter Games 2010 at Vancouver Geisenberger raced in both runs to a new track record (49.020 and 48.992 seconds). The two-time Silver Medalist of the Worlds 2008 and 2008 won in a total time of one minute 38.012 second followed by Tatjana Hüfner (+0.357 seconds). Third place went to Germany’s Anke Wischnewski (+0.600) followed by her team-mate Steffi Sieger (+0.697).
Current World Champion Erin Hamlin (+1.019) from the USA, who suffered a fissure at the right foot which happened in the finale practice session, captured 5th place, her second best result in Viessmann Luge World Cup this season. Behind Austria’s Nina Reithmayer (+1.092) Canada’s Alex Gough (+1.145) finished on 7th place.
