Lake Placid (pps) As announced by United States Luge Association (USLA), World Champion Erin Hamlin will headline USA Luge's fall 2009 national team. In addition to Hamlin, those named to the team include respective World Championship fifth and seventh-place finishers Julia Clukey and Ashley Walden, and 2006 Olympic fourth-place finisher Courtney Zablocki, Stacey Young as well as Megan Sweeney.
In men's singles, the following athletes will be on the team: World Championship 6th place finisher Bengt Walden, Tony Benshoof, the 2006 Olympic fourth-place finisher, Chris Mazdzer, silver medalist in the past season’s Junior World Cup, and Robby Huerbin, who is also still eligible to compete as a member of the Junior National Team.
Chris Mazdzer will focus on his singles sliding so that his doubles partner Jayson Terdiman will be placed with a new teammate. In doubles, the national team will be made up of World Championships bronze medalists Mark Grimmette/Brian Martin, and the respective World Championships sixth and ninth-place finishers Christian Niccum/Dan Joye and Matt Mortensen/Preston Griffall.
