World Championship record: seven nations win at least one medal

Königssee (RWH) A unique record has been set at the 46th International Luge Federation (FIL) World Championships on the artificial ice track in Königssee, where, for the first time ever, a total of seven nations claimed at least one medal. Switzerland, which last won a World Championship medal in 1961, made it back onto the medals table for the first time in 55 years. Thanks to martina Kocher.
Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Latvia, Italy, Russia and Canada all claimed at least one medal. For the first time in the history of the FIL, medals were awarded in seven disciplines at the sixth championships to be staged in Königssee.
