Germany I wins team competition in front of Germany II

Calgary. On the first day of the World Championships in Calgary/ CAN, the team Germany I consisting of the Olympic champions Silke Kraushaar and Georg Hackl and the World Champions Patric Leitner/Alexander Resch, has won the title in the event’s team competition. With 2:14.711 minutes, the team, all of whose members are supported by World Cup sponsor Viessmann, won with a clear lead over the team Germany II with Sylke Otto, Karsten Albert and Steffen Skel/Steffen Wöller. The team USA I (2:15.556) finished third, and with this gained a medal for the very first time in the history of the non-Olympic team competition.
Both Italy’s Armin Zöggeler (45.162 seconds) and Germany’s Georg Hackl (45.178 seconds) were faster than Karsten Albert’s track record (45.435). Patric Leitner could not only celebrate his team’s victory, but also his 24th birthday.
