Sochi (pps) On the last weekend in February, the “Sliding Center Sanki” will celebrate more than its première on the World Cup circuit. The focus of the luge world will be on the question of how the artificially refrigerated track will fare during its “baptism of fire” for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games. The reactions of the lugers after the International Training Week in November 2012 were all positive. Germany’s World Champion Felix Loch, who hopes to celebrate his second overall World Cup victory this weekend, described it as “a great track”. The 2010 Olympic Champion is moreover confident that “in the future, the track will be on the World Cup program regularly and will see World Championships.” And Italian record World Champion Armin Zoeggeler, who intends to compete in his sixth Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014, agrees with Loch. “It’s a great track with a particular character. It combines the different traits of those in Cesana, Nagano and Whistler and this is why it’s unique.”
