Torino (pps) The World Cup events in luge, bobsleigh and skeleton on the 2006
Olympic track at Cesana Torinese seem to be assured. The Organising Committee of
the Olympic Winter Games in Torino, TOROC, guaranteed the organisation of the
events in a letter to Josef Fendt, President of the International Luge Federation, FIL,
and Robert H. Storey, the President of the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation,
FIBT.
Accordingly, the artificially refrigerated track at Cesana Torinese will be iced as
planned at the beginning of December. Homologation by FIL and FIBT is scheduled
for December 20-22. Construction works on the track are almost completed, apart
from four corners which still have to be concreted. “The Olympic test events will be
held as scheduled”, confirmed Ivo Ferriani, a former bobsleigh driver, then successful
coach in France and Canada, who is the venue manager of the 2006 Olympic track.
Cesana Torinese will be the venue of the Viessmann World Cup final on February 4-
6, 2005.
