Lungiarue - With two wins in two races both Patrick Pigneter (ITA) as well as Ekatharina Lavrentjeva (RUS) will be hard to beat in the Overall World Cup should they prolong their winning streak next weekend in Lungiarue, Italy. High up in the mountains at 1500 meters above sea level, there won´t be any problems to find the track in perfect racing conditions. Lungiarue – also known as Campill – has always been one of the most weather-proof tracks. This is why within only three years since Lungiarue hosted its first World Cup the small town in northern Italy has become a regular in the racing calendar. Last season Lungiariue hosted the World Cup Opening and the winners were Patrick Pigneter and Ekatharina Lavrentjeva. So the odds are against their challengers and with another win on their scoreboard it will be a huge step towards the Overall World Cup.
The doubleseaters event will be exciting as always because of the high density at the top. So far no double has managed to upset the others in the same way as Lavrentjeva and Pigneter did in the singles events. In Lungiariue a new double is expected to race for World Cup points: Patrick Pigneter/Florian Clara will add the doubleseater event to their racing schedule. They already competed successfully in junior´s events.
Friday and Saturday morning the training runs will be held in Lungiarue, the race will start on Saturday at 11.30am.
