The persistently mild temperatures in the Alpine region throw a spanner in the works for the organizers of the second FIL World Cup in natural track luge in Mariazell (AUT). The World Cup planned from January 6th to 8th 2023 in Styria has been moved to Jaufental/Val Giovo (ITA).

No World Cup in Mariazell in January 2023
Berchtesgaden (FIL/27.12.2022) Check changes at the beginning of the new year for natural track luge. Because of the thaw, the organizers in Mariazell can‘t guarantee a race-ready track. Therefore, the International Luge Federation FIL decided to catch up on the races a week later in Jaufental/Val Giovo. Thus, at the World Cup premiere on the "Tonnerboden"-track, there is a double World Cup scheduled from January 12th to 15th 2023.
At the World Cup opener in Winterleiten (AUT) on December 15th to 18th, Evelin Lanthaler (ITA/single women and Eliminator), Thomas Kammerlander (AUT/single men), Michael Scheikl (AUT)/Eliminator) and Patrick Lambacher/Matthias Lambacher (ITA/doubles/Eliminator) made their way onto the list of winners.
