Umhausen (ck/es) - The world cup final in Umhausen started with a surprise in the women’s qualification which was held yesterday, Thursday, evening: The two Italians Melanie Schwarz and Evelin Lanthaler, currently ranked 3rd and 4th in the overall world cup, did not qualify for the world cup and will start today, Friday, in the Nation’s cup. Because four Italians did qualify for the world cup, Schwarz and Lanthaler will not earn any world cup points this weekend. This means that Tina Unterberger (AUT), who had her best career season this winter, has the chance to claim the third overall rank, but only if she finishes at least second (85 points) in the world cup. With a win (100 points) even Melanie Batkowski (AUT), who missed two races because of an illness, could tie Melanie Schwarz (310 points) on the third place. Due to warm weather the schedule for today, Friday, has been changed as follows: 3.30pm: Qualification Men 4.15pm: Nation’s Cup Women afterwards 1st Competition Run World Cup Women 5.00pm: 1st and only competition run Doubles Flower Ceremony 5.30pm: Opening Ceremony The program for tomorrow, Saturday, will be decided according to track and weather conditions.
