Innsbruck (pps) The President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) himself was present for the Olympic première of the Team Relay Event. Under the eyes of Jacques Rogge, the latest “innovation” of the International Luge Federation (FIL) reflected all its diversity at the inaugural winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Innsbruck. Accompanied by FIL President Josef Fendt, the “Lord of Rings” got a good idea of the fun the new discipline entails. Thus he was given a taste of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sotchi, when the FIL Team Relay Event will become an inherent part of the official Olympic Winter Games schedule. Gold in Team Relay Event at the YOG in Innsbruck went to the US lugers. On the Medal Plaza Summer Britcher, Tucker West and the doubles Ty Andersen and Pat Edmunds will be honored with the first gold medal in the Team Relay Event. Silver went to the team from Germany with Saskia Langer, Christian Paffe and Tim Brendl/Florian Funk. To the great joy of the fans at the Olympic Sliding Center in Igls, the bronze medal went to the team of host Austria with Miriam-Stefanie Kastlunger, Armin Frauscher and Thomas Steu/Lorenz Koller.
