Youth Olympic Games ends with gold for Germany in the team relay

Lillehammer (RWH)  Gold for German junior quartet. The German team has won gold in the team relay on the third and final day of the luge competition at the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Lillehammer. The team featuring Jessica Tiebel, Paul-Lukas Heider and the doubles pairing of Hanns Orlamünder/Paul Gubitz secured the German team’s first gold medal on the 1994 Olympic ice track.

Silver went to the Russian team of Olesya Mikhaylenko, Evgenij Petrov and Vsevolod Kashkin/Konstantin Korshunov. The Italian team featuring Marion Oberhofer, Fabian Malleiner and Felix Schwarz/Lukas Gufler claimed bronze.

The twelve medals at the 2nd Winter Youth Olympics were shared between six national federations: Germany (1 gold, 3 silver, 0 bronze), Italy (1-0-1), Canada (1-0-1), Latvia (1-0-0) Russia (0 -1-1) and Austria (0-0-1).
