Nagano (pps) Italy’s Armin Zöggeler added his outstanding career another highlight on. At the 4th Viessmann Luge World Cup the two-time Olympic Champion and five-time World Champion realized his 33rd victory in World Cup. The Italian Superstar drew level with record winning Markus Prock (Austria) and Georg Hackl (Germany), who both achieved 33 successes in Viessmann Luge World Cup.
The former team-mate of Zöggeler, Norbert Huber from south Tyrol, was in total 35 times on top of the podium. He realized 26 victories in doubles together with Hansjörg Raffl and nine in men’s single. In the women’s race Germany’s Sylke Otto realized a record number of 37 successes.
At the „spiral“ in Zöggeler even didn’t need best time in one of both runs, to win in a total time of one minute 39,469 seconds followed by Russia’s Albert Demtschenko (1:39,553) and Latvia’s Martins Rubenis (1:39,554).
Tony Benshoof from USA, on 4th place at the Winter Olympics at Turin 2006, reached at Nagano 10th place. Canada’s Jeff Christie, 7th after the first run missed the second one and fall back to 17th place.
