Beijing 2022 – fact-finding trip to FIL

Königssee (RWH)  A delegation from the Organising Committee of the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing paid a fact-finding visit to the artificial ice track in Königssee and also met with both professional winter sports associations. In addition to the representatives of the International Luge Federation (FIL) and the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (IBSF), headed by President Josef Fendt (GER) and Ivo Ferriani (ITA) respectively, Irina Gladkikh (RUS), Head of Winter Sports for the International Olympic Committee (IOC), also took part in the experience-sharing meeting. During the visit, the Beijing delegation presented a range of construction concepts for the planned artificial ice track, and the issue of the location was also discussed.

Markus Aschauer, the manager of the Königssee track, showed the Chinese visitors a study containing facts and figures relating to track usage. He also explained the economic factor using the oldest artificial ice track in the world as a case study.
