Changed starting order for the EBERSPAECHER Luge World Cup in Oberhof

Warmer Winter, Sonnenbrillen, Oberhof 2024

Oberhof (FIL/15. Feb. 2024) In view of the weather forecast for Saturday and Sunday and the associated uncertainty regarding consistently fair track conditions for all lugers, the race management and the Technical Director, in consultation with the jury, have decided to apply paragraph § 3.7.1 of the IRO (International Luge Regulations) at the seventh EBERSPAECHER World Cup in Oberhof. This means that the starting order will be adjusted once.

Accordingly, the top five finishers in the singles disciplines from Friday's Nations Cup will start in reverse order at the weekend. This will be followed by the groups of seeded athletes (rankings 7 - 12 / 1 - 6). The rest of the field, starting with the sixth-placed athlete from the Nations Cup, will slide at the end. Only the 20 best lugers from the first run will take part in the second heat. They will start in reverse order of their ranking from the first run. All other athletes will retain their ranking from the first run.

In the men's doubles, the top three from the Nations Cup start in reverse order at the beginning of the first run, then the seeded groups and finally the duos from fourth place in the Nations Cup to the end. The doubles from 18th to first place in the first heat take part in the second run.

Due to the small field of participants in the women's doubles, no changes are necessary here.

The order also remains unchanged for the Sprint World Cup on Sunday. Only 15 sleds will start in each discipline.
