Patrick Baumann is the new President of SportAccord

Lausanne (RWH)  Patrick Baumann has been named as the new President of SportAccord, the worldwide umbrella organisation for all sports federations. Aged 48, the Secretary General of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) won a majority at the General Assembly in Lausanne (SUI) against competing candidate Anna Arzhanova from Russia.

Gian-Franco Kasper from Switzerland has been acting as Interim President of the umbrella organisation since May 2015. The International Luge Federation (FIL) was represented in Lausanne by President Josef Fendt from Germany and Secretary General Svein Romstad (USA).
