Deutschnofen/Nova Ponente (FIL/25.01.2023) The fourth stage of the FIL World Cup in natural track luge is the "living room" of European Champion Alex Gruber (ITA). The local hero celebrated six of his 14 World Cup victories in Deutschnofen/Nova Ponente. In the overall standings, the 30-year-old leads after four of six races with 330 points, tied with the Michael Scheikl (AUT), only five points behind is World Champion Thomas Kammerlander (AUT), who in 2020 achieved his only victory so far on the 785 meter-long track. This trio is also on fire for the win in Deutschnofen/Nova Ponente (ITA) in the men's singles.

In the women's singles, serial winner Evelin Lanthaler (ITA) comes to the high-speed track with her 40th World Cup victory in the books. After the hundredth thriller last time in Jaufental/Val Giovo (ITA), a duel between Lanthaler and her teammate Greta Pinggera (ITA) is on the cards for the coming weekend. In the overall standings, Lanthaler leads with a maximum of 400 points ahead of Pinggera (286) and Tina Unterberger (AUT/275).

In the doubles, the big question is whether the all-time greats Patrick Pigneter/Florian Clara (ITA) will return to the top of the podium. This season, the record World Cup winners (65 wins) have always had to admit defeat to their teammates Patrick Lambacher/Matthias Lambacher (ITA), who are leading the World Cup Overall ranking with 400 points.

The races in Deutschnofen/Nova Ponente (ITA) will be broadcast via livestream on the homepage of the International Luge Federation FIL at www.fil-luge.org.
